Begin with Consecration, then build from the offers
The class picker describes holy ground, hammers, self-healing and occasional death prevention. It explicitly lists Consecration under Starts With. Selecting Paladin therefore does not put the complete Holy Shield combination on a fresh character.
Use the movement and card controls to keep playing with the damage you currently have. At a level-up, a new spell competes with upgrades to existing spells, and a run has six spell slots. Make that decision around the spells already selected rather than treating a hoped-for drop as equipped.
This is the fresh, zero-talent starting state. The inspected Ardent Defender milestone later replaces the starting spell with Hammer of Justice; the talent reference below explains its prerequisites.
How the recorded Holy Shield interaction works
In Whiter's explanation at 6:59–7:58, the creator chooses Protection and describes Holy Shield damaging enemies that attack him. He then combines damage reduction with equipment that heals the character and reports clearing Elwynn Forest.
The useful interaction is retaliation plus enough sustain to keep surviving incoming damage. This explains the recorded choice of effects; it does not establish that deliberately absorbing every attack is safe on an undeveloped account. Continue moving away from damage you cannot sustain.
| Part | Purpose | What to verify in your run |
|---|---|---|
| Holy Shield | Damages attackers in the creator's explanation | The spell has actually been offered and selected |
| Damage reduction | Supports the retaliation plan by reducing incoming pressure | Read the current effect and compare it with your equipped item |
| Healing equipment | Helps recover while taking damage | Check whether the effect is run jewellery or permanent class gear |
| Protection talents | Matches the creator's stated direction | Use the current tree; the source does not provide a complete point-by-point allocation |

Verified talent effects and prerequisites
These tooltips were read directly in the original V0.90.0 menu on 15 October 2026. A “next-rank preview” was inspected at zero allocated ranks: it is not a tested maximum-rank value. Named milestone requirements are listed separately from points spent; no points were allocated during this check.
| Talent | Requirement / inspected rank | Displayed effect |
|---|---|---|
| Improved Devotion Aura | Protection · 0 points · rank 0/5 | Next-rank preview: reduces all incoming damage by 1% |
| Redoubt | Protection · 0 points · rank 0/5 | Next-rank preview: +4% maximum health |
| Improved Consecration | Protection · 5 points · rank 0/3 | Next-rank preview: each Consecration tick adds damage equal to 0.2% of maximum health |
| Spiritual Attunement | Protection · 5 points · rank 0/3 | Next-rank preview: heals for 0.2% of damage dealt |
| Hallowed Ground | Protection · 10 points · rank 0/1 | Hammer of Justice landings create a free Consecration, at most once every 4 seconds |
| Ardent Defender | Protection · 20 points + Hallowed Ground rank 1 | Starts each run with Hammer of Justice; Consecration builds a health-based shield; +20% damage while a shield holds |
| Hammer of the Righteous | Protection · 30 points + Ardent Defender rank 1 | +15% maximum health; spells add damage equal to 1% of maximum health, with further Hammer of Justice and shield-break effects |

Choose the next improvement from your actual setup
The same creator stresses that each run changes with its card offers. Use these decisions as an interpretation of the documented interaction, not as a tested universal card order.
| Current situation | Practical next step |
|---|---|
| Consecration is your only established damage spell | Keep an effective source of damage while evaluating offered upgrades; do not plan as if retaliation is already active |
| Holy Shield has not appeared | Continue with the available spells and survival effects; the exact recorded combination is incomplete |
| Retaliation is active, but health keeps falling | Look for supported healing or mitigation effects and reduce avoidable incoming hits |
| Two items have familiar WoW names | Compare their actual Azeroth Survivors effects and equipment layer, rather than importing WoW stats |
| You are comparing a fresh character with the video | Check permanent gear and talent investment before interpreting the result |

Separate the run build from permanent Paladin progress
The equipment guide separates rings, trinkets and an amulet that reset from boss equipment kept for the class. A run-item priority does not automatically identify a permanent boss drop to farm.
Open the Paladin's Talents screen for current requirements and Collection for equipped permanent pieces. The talent system guide explains the inspected row and milestone rules, but its Druid examples are not a Paladin allocation. This guide does not prescribe an unverified 51-point setup.
Before changing browsers or importing a different account file, export the progress you want to keep. Importing replaces existing progress rather than merging two characters.
Use the first zone as a concrete goal
The inspected Paladin menu starts with Elwynn Forest open. Its listed checkpoints are Hogger at 3:00, Mother Fang at 6:00, Rhahk'Zor at 9:00, Mr. Smite at 12:00 and Edwin VanCleef at 16:00. Defeating VanCleef opens Duskwood for this class in that menu.
These times help orient the run; they are not boss-specific dodge instructions. The Paladin loot lookup now lists the Squire's pieces and Wooden Maul from the original menu. The equipment effects include regeneration on Squire's Legplates and mitigation on Squire's Breastplate; they are permanent class pieces, not run jewellery.
Inspect the original menu references
Open the inspected talent tooltip sheet or the nine individual Elwynn item panels at full size. These captures preserve the original menu text; values and prerequisites above were read from those panels, not inferred from World of Warcraft.
Paladin questions
Does Paladin start with Holy Shield?
No. The inspected V0.90.0 menu lists Consecration. Holy Shield is part of the recorded Protection direction.
Is this a guaranteed beginner clear?
No. The example documents one creator's approach, with its own gear, talents and offers. It is useful for understanding an interaction, not predicting a fresh account's result.
Which exact permanent items should I farm?
The recording does not prescribe a mandatory named set. Current menu inspection identifies Squire's Legplates (+10 Health and 0.2 health per second) from Hogger and Squire's Breastplate (+13 Health and 1.4% damage reduction) from Rhahk'Zor. These match relevant effects, without proving an optimal farming order.
